Protect re-ignite soul log July 19th. Moralize. Moralize! that's it! Moralizing is what we have failed to do!!!

Haven't we systematically and overtly made moralizing out of bounds? Poor taste? Something that decent people don't do? What the fuck's? And if we had treated cancer the same way, our physical health the same way?   The results would have been what?

The results would have been Infinitely less dire than they planetary extinction that now we are Completing.

Utter fuckings insanity. Were we taken over by some species , some aliens from space That saw this as a cheap and easy way to extinguish us? Showing the notions of this insanity that what is off bounds is the most essential for survival? Moralizing? Achieving for ourselves individually and collectively An acute expert sense for what is moral for the species? Ecocide, our own extinction, is the Obvious, unavoidable result of this insanity.

James for one will redouble his efforts To do what moralizing he can, heath producing he can, within himself, and thereby, possibly with the one in a million, for the joy it will produce for both.

You are going to do the same, correct? ....

Eureka! Listen to him this way. History's Einstein of joy, heaven, life from the soul.

The man Jesus I am referring to, and in this way, for the 1st time ever, I am reading/listening to the roughly 200 versus that we have from history and serious scholarship, that he actually said, and taught, and lived. http://www.lsgiabeing.com/2018/03/jesus-moral-ethical-teachings-according.html

Is this the most inspiring listening, studying, of these

"Your new book is going to be called ‘The Myth of Normal: Illness and Health in an Insane Culture’. Just how insane is our culture? Well, it depends on how you want to define ‘sanity’. If you look at sanity as something that’s congruent with human nature and human needs… Human needs for meaning, connection, validation, belonging and transcendence. These are human needs. This society is insane because it utterly tramples on those human needs. That’s what makes it insane. When somebody’s normal in this society, they are conforming to an insane standard, hence the title of the book. I’m writing another book with my son, and it will be entitled ‘Hello Again: A fresh start for adult children and their parents’. Very often adult parent-child relationships are so fractured that by the time they become adults, we don’t even know how to relate to our parents and visa versa. That book is about bridging that inter-generational gap and helping each generation to take 100 per cent responsibility for their role in the dynamics."

I have read a set of real credible articles by a courageous extremely credible Yale psychologist, with other degrees in Divinity and Medicine, who pulled together a range of other experts and they published the book. Bandy Lee, the dangerous case of Donald Trump.  A line that hit me was about how it struck her that he is very much the toddler, not being derisive, being clinical, the toddler that has toys and sand and soldiers in front of her and creates in Her Imagination her total world. Of course this author said it better than this but that's the gist. It struck me as very apt. He has been enabled since toddlerhood to be a toddler Tyrant and is now. He is enabled to create his own fantasy world in material world with all the lackeys around him. He imagines the reality he wants and then with his tantrums and wealth imposes it. And that of his imagination is his reality, that's as far as it goes. And we let him. We let it, I mean. Worse than that, we totally enable it. If there were ever a time that we simply turned our attention away from him, whatever it cost us, he would fold like a pitiful House of Cards.

But infinitely more likely, we will allow him to keep his fingers from the new clear buttons, and to raise his rabble mob and it will be Nazi Germany all over again.

Selfishly, suicide? Part of a longer dialogue James had with a good soul today.

selfishly, suicide?  Sounds great to me. But I guess, not really.  Not until I feel that I  can no longer substantially work toward helping Maybe One in a Million .  My joy, my soul, is just too greedy for the joy of the attempt. But then?  I'm out of here. And this is really really really really really surprising and important to me. My take from my upbringing was that the externally, extrinsically, gratified life was the life worth having.  The life that pleases the body and mind. I have learned that the exact opposite is true.  That the only life worth having is the intrinsically gratified one, from trying to be good in the world.  And all the people that I admire in history, that small handful,  LSGIABeing.com, that is what I understand about their life.  Built on intrinsic gratification, the joy of trying to make things better, whether they understood it that way or not.

To my dear friend brilliantly raising some fine children that have a autism diagnosis.

Maybe...... My occasional musings about what might be useful to your boys is really really really presumptuous and annoying. I hope we are good enough friends that you would let me know such a thing rather than having me just keep being annoying?

It is said that the fish are the last ones to discover water. I often think of that. The reason it comes to my mind right now is because I do a lot of logging while voyaging in the vehicle, sweating and peddling profusely.

Doing so now.

And what I realized is how extraordinairily liberating that exact process, voice typing, how tremendously liberating, empowering, growth enabling, it is to my soul, and my intellect. Writing as we shared recently, journalling, is very empowering, sort of like scratch paper for the mathematician as I experience it. Or maybe a sketch pad for the artist. Very liberating. But doing so vocally for me is even that much more. I have to edit the text which sometimes can be quite frustrating but these voice typing applications are amazingly accurate. But I get to vocalize and deal with text. Extraordinary.

As you may know better than I, in the entire field of psychology the only, or one of the only things that is statistically significant in terms of helping someone gain, regain, hold on to mental health, is being in the presence of someone who is empathically listening. Few people are ever in the presence of such a person. When they are they will vocalize things deep within them or superficial that otherwise they would never touch Pond. And there's something about our nervous system, absolutely mine, that when I vocalize all of a sudden it is in front of me and my nervous system grabs it and takes it forward in a healthier way that never would happen otherwise! This voice typing that is part of my routine just does that.

Hugs. James

MMASS DD. Everything is dying now of Massive Mutilation Assault and Starvation of Soul Destruction Disorder. MMASS DD.

This is the science of it. This is the physics of it. The only chance for Humanity, for the human species, was to accelerate evolution by placing the soul, the mamalian brain, in charge of reptilian brain and cerebral cortex, we have done the opposite and aggressively visited mass disorder on virtually all of humanity.

There have been those that saw this mass destruction, throughout history, Confucius, Budda, Hillel, Jesus , Muhammad, Amos, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and others. They have been ignored, crucified, turned into bromide State, used as room deodorizer on the otherwise slaughterhouse stench of our cultures these last seven thousand years.

It is now beyond hope for the species and a million other species immediately. It is beyond hope. But there will be remnants, poor souls, brought into the world by already dead soul-crippled parents, because no one of soul would bring another child into this deadly hell of a world in writhing deathspiral.

But none the less there will be remnants, there will be the The occasional blade of grass that for some unknown reason has the potential to sprout out through the otherwise toxic waste dump to the re-ignition, The Rebirth, of their soul, their DNA given limbic system in charge. And all of our efforts must go toward these green shoots.

And what is the form of this mass disorder?

Churches, Synagogues , mosque, schools…. They are death chambers for the soul. They are places where children are sent to be turned into cog in society, in business, in the corporations, in corporate medicine,.... and this is not possible without first destroying the Soul, the limbic system, the mammalian brain, or so cripping it that it is totally totally near death. The soul being the place of honesty, truth, wisdom, compassion, unity, revolution when necessary, justice, goodness, equality, community, Universal family. Business can't have that! Psychology can't have that! Academia can't have that! Politics can have that! Extraction industries can't have that! Politics can't have that! Klan supremacy can't have that!

No, these are death chambers for the soul. Gas lighting, is mutilation of thinking capacity, death to the notion that earth can be heaven, no, only some life after this hellish existence. Realize your Creator given potential as a human being? No! Become a cog in the machine! Destroy those wings, burn them, mutilate them! Docile thinking machine, or useful docile arms and legs for some soul-crippled monster at the top to manipulate and exploit! All causing Walking Dead, joyless, pleasure-addicted mutilated creatures.

And what must we do now to counteract this massive destructive disorder?

What is known of that, and the elements of that answer are to be found at this LSGIABeing.com site, which is an ongoing work in progress.

But the essential challenge, the essential need, to help those One in a Million grass shoots against impossible odds, is to create the mechanisms that Foster, nurture, life based on intrinsic motivation, not extrinsic. Although this is not the language at all or purpose of a book called Born to Be Good, Dacher Keltner, a mediocre book, but an important placeholder, our neuro biology is pointed to here that supports, and calls for this effort.

James has long diagnosed, misdiagnosed, and underestimated the scope of the disorder. Up until now understanding it as MEDD, massive empathy deficit disorder. It goes much Beyond empathy.

Ignite Soul log May 15. Spinoza added to the must study list.

Searching for Spinoza, neuroscientist Antonio damasio. Interesting read. Valuable to James. Much good and many Mines to step on.

He is drawn to Spinoza and now so am I.

Scientific integrity and Brilliant on the part of damasio. Emotions are largely automatic. Virtually every species has them. Feelings are a more recent development that enable higher developed nervous systems to deal with those otherwise unconscious intangible emotions. They are in a sense the language and the manageable attributes of the automatic emotions.

Minefield? Damacio is a wonderful cerebral cortex. But not much of a developed limbic system, soul. At times he does a remarkable job of speaking clinically About Soul. But not being a highly developed soul he is Clumsy, word salad, and unintentionally disrespectful and dismissive of soul. He is deeply drawn to Spinoza, but in the end, he has to reduce Spinosa, possibly a highly developed Soul, to elements of cerebral cortex. And if the reader does not understand this then they are there by encouraged to dismiss Soul as well. So often. George vaillant. Karen Armstrong. Certainly Brock and Parker.

James got terribly thrown off balance by a very unhappy body tonight. Important learning experience. Of course it's not his body's fault. Looks like it's set off quite a storm. Because James was not operating it properly it got really really uncomfortable, it just would not approach the performance of recent voyages. James didn't know what to do. So his soul rather than remain as loving supervisor entirely in mashed in the Affairs of the body. Not a very good example except that it is recoverable and an important learning experience.

And some level of recovery is occurring.

Soulless, beautiful, beautiful trained young Asian Christian Droid did I meet yesterday.

Just before the last stretch, still closed, of new highway going to the base of Mount Whitney, Sol and I spent the day with me conducting upgrades and repairs.
Late in the afternoon one of the hikers, this is a Trailhead until the road opens in several days, a hiker sort of circles Sol, and then stood to get my attention.
Looking up there was a very pretty young Asian girl, early twenties Maybe? Are you a Christian? No, I said, it is the real man that I Revere, not what the church has been making up for two thousand years.
I speak this as the tired truth. She did not seem to take offense. And then began a series of questions which I responded to for probably 5 minutes or more which is a long time for me. She showed little reaction to each thing that I shared, other than as a basis to calculate what question to ask next,, and anyone reviewing this site can pretty well guess what I shared.
I didn't catch on. And that's okay. Finally, well, I believe the Bible is without error she said, that was earlier in the conversation, and now, well may I at least tell you my Christian beliefs.
Thinking for a moment I said, no, that would be unkind of me.

Unkind, why?

Because it would help you think that I was not really sad about your belief system. Why is that? She asked. Because it is the Hallmark of a soul that is not very alive.
But only this morning upon Awakening did I more fully grasp what I encountered which is a broader phenomenon that I have encountered many times. But it presented itself in a deeper understanding.
Google agents send me a daily summary on probably 30 different topics in which I have interest, every day. Most of it is not useful but some of it is. One was an article of a credible study looking at Christian fundamentalism, and finding that it correlates quite highly with brain damage of the prefrontal cortex. The study was of combat veterans as I recall. The article was not read extremely carefully by me but I reflected this morning, and somewhat last night, that the church is systemic War Of Destruction on the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that Embraces new ideas and change and Truth. And that when that's gone, the study went on, what is embraced instead is Dogma although that's not the word that they used. The security of Dogma.
The church is systemic Relentless war, and I'm speaking of the church communities, the fundamentalist groups, the Christian groups at large that Embrace such things as the inerrancy of the toilet paper Bible knit together by thousands of hands one in a million of which had any grasp of Soul, any grasp of the Divine. Despite their best efforts.
By incorporating such inane garbage the prefrontal cortex experiences Assault, it withdraws, it atrophies, and it essentially dies.

This was an extremely valuab insight for me.  Surprising that it didn't come till now.

"... a critical shift in American culture — one that a handful of researchers have been tracking, with some alarm, for the past decade or so. Americans these days seem to be losing their appetite for empathy, especially the walk-a-mile-in-someone's-shoes Easter Sunday morning kind.... " netanyahu's propaganda rag needs to tell the truth sometimes, so that it can lie almost all the time.

https://www.npr.org/2019/04/15/712249664/the-end-of-empathy

"... Then, more than a decade ago, a certain suspicion of empathy started to creep in, particularly among young people. One of the first people to notice was Sara Konrath, an associate professor and researcher at Indiana University. Since the late 1960s, researchers have surveyed young people on their levels of empathy, testing their agreement with statements such as: "It's not really my problem if others are in trouble and need help" or "Before criticizing somebody I try to imagine how I would feel if I were in their place."

Konrath collected decades of studies and noticed a very obvious pattern. Starting around 2000, the line starts to slide. More students say it's not their problem to help people in trouble, not their job to see the world from someone else's perspective. By 2009, on all the standard measures, Konrath found, young people on average measure 40 percent less empathetic than my own generation — 40 percent!..."

But certainly I'm not endorsing their description of the book which I have not read. Much of it sounds incredibly horrible.

Review, spiritual Evolution, George vaillant. An invaluable gold mine in a deadly minefield.

Review, spiritual Evolution, George vaillant. An invaluable gold mine in a deadly minefield.

The gold, the life-saving truths found throughout this book are extraordinarily important. But the book is laced with landmines and unless one procedes carefully they will do themselves permanent damage.

George is an extremely useful probe for us, the right person at the right time to observe important developments in the realm of psychobiology. And thank goodness for that. But whereas he has a lifetime of observation he has little or no personal experience. By way of analogy , he has spent countless years observing those who climb sheer Rock faces and communicates that to a population who has never seen it. But not being a rock climber himself fatal it would be for his readers to proceed to the rock face on just what he says. And also it would be a mistake for the would-be rock climber to ignore what he does share.

The author of this review, James, for reasons no credit to himself, has spent a lifetime practicing, studying, exercising the capacity for unselfish love, living with the soul in charge, which is at the heart of what vaillant shares with us. To this lifelong practitioner, James, the gold nuggets throughout this book are invaluable to the extent that he has spent months studying what vaillant provided. But also months agonizing over the extraordinary errors also laced throughout the book.

Although it will seem that James has some desire to speak negatively about vaillant and the book this is not at all the case. The Nuggets that vaillant provides to us are so extraordinary valuable to the life of every individual, that the poisons that he also unintentionally introduces are that much more consequential and must be flagged.

Throughout the book vaillant authoritatively identifies the extraordinary intellectual failure that the field of psychology has been and continues to be, as evidenced by the recent vital progress being made by a few in the field and related fields of Neuroscience, ethology, primatology, cultural anthropology and the like.

Imagine that the field of psychology had ridiculed and even more so denied the human capacity for lust, anger, violence, intellectual Pursuit…. Flesh and head respectively. How incredibly bankrupt, correct? It has done the equivalent, not the equivalent, infinitely worse. It has violently denied the human capacity for unselfish love, Soul in charge, demonstrably the most important capacity to the survival of the human species over the Millennia and into the future. And the solitary source of the ultimate human emotional state, Joy. It has violently, violently, viciously denied, belittled, ridiculed the existence of such a thing.

George does us an invaluable service of laying out the studies in a variety of disciplines that indisputably indicate that in the human limbic system, the mammalian part of our brain, the inbuilt capacity and orientation to unconditional love is inbuilt not only in our species, especially in our species, but also to varying degrees throughout the mammalian Kingdom.

This aspect of the book is beyond invaluable. More than any other book I know if everyone read and grasped this aspect of the book it would change the world. No, that won't happen, but if it did, it would change the world.

But as the book stands if the book were read without supervision it would change and hence the futile effort of this review. In one sentence George brilliantly presents the truth of unconditional love, and then three sentences late later conflates it we lust, selfish love. And this pattern repeats itself over and over and over and over.

George does not grasp the importance of those gold nuggets. And he is willing to dilute his presentation trying to appeal to too many audiences and too many goals, particularly the religious communities around the world. He has the right, it is understandable, but we are out of time as a species, and each living individual is out of time to get it right.

At some time in the future I would like to have the time to present the detailed notes and analysis paragraph by paragraph, chapter by chapter that I have agonized over these last weeks. And one on one, if asked, I could do so. But for now the following will have to suffice, a quick assessment chapter by chapter of highs and lows.

Chapter 1. Positive emotion. George opens with a Majesterial encapsulation of the gold Nuggets that he strews throughout this book. It is a magnificent true story and the bottom line for him of the story is this: “Unselfish love (soul, heart) had conquered both Darwinian “selfish” genes and Kantian pure reason (flesh and head respectively). The transformative power of positive emotion had interceded. Positive emotions—not only
compassion, forgiveness, love, and hope but also joy, faith/trust, awe, and gratitude—arise from our inborn mammalian capacity for unselfish parental love. They emanate from our feeling, limbic mammalian brain and thus are grounded in our evolutionary heritage. All human beings are hardwired for positive emotions, and these positive emotions are a common denominator of all major faiths and of all human beings. Thus, this is, in some respects, a revolutionary book. I shall argue that thepositive emotions are not just nice to have; they are essential to the survival of Homo sapiens as a species.”

Had George tightly adhered to this in every paragraph of this book it would be the most important book on earth. Truly. Sadly, this is not the case. But the truth that human kind or the human individual needs to understand is in the quotation above, often substantiated throughout this book, most importantly with the scientific advances in the last 10 or 20 years richly documented here in. Substantiated most importantly by finding the organ, if you will, previously unknown, Limbic system, mamalian brain, the most important part of the triune brain. Most important organ for the human species survival past, present and for the few that will survive what a world dominated by head and flash, cerebral cortex and hypothalamus respectively, is in the final stages of destroying.

Proceed with this book if you can keep in mind, and measure every passage by, the quotation above which strikes right to the heart of the truth. The reader who does so will find the gold Nuggets richly strewn throughout this book and avoid the land minds. Otherwise, do not proceed.

Over all chapter one is fabulous, extremely constructive. But George can't seem to help himself. He clearly does not see with his limbic system what thank goodness his cerebral cortex has brought to us in this chapter as he blunders into, “If readers will permit me to define pleasure as the result of positive emotion rather than mere hedonism, then…” WTF? And George nowhere in the book evidences that he sees the centrality of this horrible deadly error. Pleasure is the neurological psychological reward provided by the nervous system when it senses that we are pursuing what our hypothalamus, our Reptilian Brain, our selfish brain wants. Joy being the exact opposite reward, when the nervous system senses that driven by our soul, our heart, our mammalian brain, our limbic system, we are attempting to serve those Among Us in need!

Chapter 2. The prose and the passion. With this chapter George gets off to a pretty wonderful start, “Only recently have scientists discovered that the compassion, joy, and unselfish love so important to religion and to the Neolithic mind are not irrelevant to science. You see, the
Neolithic (hunter-gatherer) mind that “natural selection built” was more like that of a four-year-old—all images, animism, magic, and emotion—than like that of a modern, highly educated adult. Dependence on the written word and the use of the scientific experiment to verify imagined cause and effect were still far in the future by the time that natural selection had completed the “hardware” of the Homo sapiens brain. Moreover, ever since our invention of new “software” like the printing press and the scientific method, we have had less and less respect for the superstitious, mystical brain that natural selection built.” Bravo! Except for the troubling mistaken quote from EO Wilson with which he begins and then goes back to after the quotation above. “Only recently have scientists rediscovered that the compassion, joy, and unselfish love so important to religion and to the Neolithic mind are not irrelevant to science.
Moreover, ever since our invention of new “software” like the printing press and the scientific method, we have had less and less respect for the superstitious, mystical brain that natural selection built."The task of a thoughtful future humanity must be to correct the “misalignment” between our scientific and our emotional brains.” because he and Wilson think that somehow the cerebral cortex and the mammalian brain are equals in a successful human life or humanity is a species. But Time After Time After Time the wonderful examples that he introduces in this book are no such thing, they are the soul in charge, the heart, the limbic system, the mammalian brain in charge of the cerebral cortex and hypothalamus, Reptilian Brain. Nowhere does George evidence that he sees this although his examples scream it from the rooftops. And his examples are exactly correct.

A profound value of this book is that it brings us such important revealing research from the last 10 and 20 years. But our research is conducted by those like George who worship their cerebral cortex in charge so quite possibly never the available instrumentation will be used to reveal what the likes of Abraham Maslow saw so many decades ago. That the mammalian brain, now clearly identified, when activated brings to Bear the full spectrum of white light, all of the positive emotions, activated and put in charge in addition to things he does not speak of, wisdom, Vision, which he speaks of tangentially, creativity, inspiration which he says is of the cerebral cortex but it is not it is primarily with the limbic system in charge.

With few exceptions this chapter 2 is helpful and extraordinarily so in many cases. He courageously lays out the anatomy and existence of the limbic system. There is little to be careful of in this chapter except for where he says, “Emotions, like the smooth muscle of our viscera, cannot be controlled by conscious will.” So incredibly blind, and wrong. And almost by his own words, elsewhere in the book. Where he speaks of the capacity to focus, and by being self-aware, self-monitoring, and focusing on what we look at and how we conceptualize it we are choosing which part of the nervous system, head, flesh, or soul, to activate. How can he be so blind? He is cerebral man. It is.

But with this chapter George gives us back Far and Away the most important part of our nervous system, that which makes us human, that, when in charge, gives us joy, and Hope For The Individual or group that keeps it in charge. Thank you George.

Chapter 3. 3 evolutions. For the most part a lot of very helpful material. Useful to highlight three types of evolution important to humanity, genetic, cultural, the software if you will, and the individual aging, maturing process.

There are some significant landmines in this chapter however. Among overprivileged people like George, the elites that he views as the healthy human beings, probably the opposite is true, he assumes that mature morality comes with age. That may be correct. But more likely it is a reflection of the sickness of our culture, and structural changes. How much easier it is for his Elite study subjects in their Advanced age to be moral, when they have structured their Financial Security earlier in their years.

And what of a young Rachel Corrie? Still, like virtually all of psychology, the unhealthy population is studied for its extremes and the most positive of the unhealthy population is held up as the optimum. This is crazy. When will we start with the healthy individuals, like young Rachel, or young Greta? Maslow did.

And then this. “As developmentalist Carol Gilligan points out, we have no self to give “selflessly” away if at first we are not “selfish.”” What kind of culture-specific, unexamined, superficial garbage is this?

And in the final several pages of this chapter there is quite a bit more garbage. Be careful you don't step in it.

But it ends on a positive note. “what human evolution is all about. Over time, just as evolving humanity is better shielded by science from capricious famine and infant deaths, just so its faith traditions—once dependent on the protective but negative emotions of abject fear and righteous anger—can give way to the positive emotions of faith, love, hope, joy, forgiveness, compassion, and awe—the positive emotions whose biologic underpinnings will serve as foci for the next seven chapters.”

Not that his attempt to save the religions should be lauded, it should not. They are cancerous Corpses and should be allowed to die.

And does George even realize that he is not speaking here of connecting the prose and the passion, but rather having the soul, the heart, the limbic system, the mammalian brain in charge?
.
……. Creator willing, to be continued......

January 3rd, 2019 note. The plan was to complete this review weeks ago. But it will be several weeks s till until it is ready to go. Higher priority than completing this has been assumed by attempting to basically master the invaluable work of Karen Armstrong in, the great transformation recommended in George's book. Also, work is being undertaken to internalized, grasp, and even memorize certain of the passages that scholarship indicates were actually said by the man Jesus 2000 years ago. Roughly 20% of the words and sayings and examples actually attributed to him.
