When my two biological offspring were born, what had been my lifelong
background focus, rocketed to the center of my being... and remained
there, growing, taking over more and more of my being. That Focus -

MATTER WHAT... because these two new lives were my responsibility...

embody, even a tiny portion of what they needed from me to give them a
good chance at 100% Joyful Living... in this most Joy-less of all times
and cultures in human history... in the history of creation. Ever since
the conception of that 1st offspring, I've twisted, contorted, studied,
practiced, failed, failed, failed...succeeded... making baby step after
baby step forward... to the point that by about 13 years ago (too late
for them :-( ), my cells (but not my brain) absolutely knew the
direction... that I've lived ever since. But my brain is much, much,
much... slower than my cells.... It is only in the middle of the night
last night... that all I've learned, developed, integrated, practiced...
came together in it's simple, complete essence (pic below). I'd dearly
like to have a book that conveyed in detail, with the copious reference
that now dwell within me, what this pic conveys... but for the few, the
one in a million, that in any population has 'the eyes to see and the
ears to hear,' I'm not sure a book could improve their chances of
'seeing' and 'hearing' beyond what this pic says. All that remains for
them is ... practice, practice, practice, practice.... What this pic
says is the complete integration of the accumulated wisdom of hundreds
of books in a myriad of disciplines, from the wisest, Profoundly Joyful
Souls, in history, filtered thru my lifetime of failure, trial,
struggle, and success. I share it, because it is what I live
every-breath-Profound-Joy by... despite, and facilitated by, relatively
profound and total material deprivation... for more than a decade now.
(Don't say I never gave you anything! LOL.) Hugsps: I've arrived at, and live, every breath, the Path of Infinite Joy (and Hell of bearing the world's Suffering)... because I'm one of the only ones, a one in a million... that never 'admired,' but rather... Americans don't want to be saved, so what is the point of trying to help them? But for me, this remains the right place. My generation unleashed the downfall, and it is here I can best fight to slow the destruction of, well, at least, the Palestinians.

There is a common table, extra food is placed there, and there was a box of muffins with one left. I reached to take it not noticing the man sitting on one end of the table, or the largely empty dish at the other end. I did NOTHING wrong, or inconsiderate. A weird looking white guy is quite a bit less safe in this near 100% black shelter these days, I'm sure. Oh well.

About 5:30 pm tonight, as I was working, and shivering, in front of the White House in hour 7 today... all of a sudden the officers announce that the street was 'closing,' everyone on to the far sidewalk. This is not an unusual occurrence, for any of wide variety of security reasons. This time, however, the reason became quickly obvious as the sound of angry 'demonstrators' approaching became evident. It was a 'Ferguson,' et al inspired demonstration. It was disgusting. Hate demonstrating against hate. Violence demonstrating against violence. Black trash demonstrating against white trash. It was half an hour earlier than I'd planned on leaving the park, but seeing as how it was getting dark, and I had to move already... I packed up my stuff. But before I left I screamed at the demonstrators blanket hate speech and taunting of the assembled men and women iniform, at the top of my huge voice, 'All the police are bad? ALL THE POLICE ARE BAD??? THAT'S BIGOTRY. THAT'S BIGOTRY.' I saw little else I could do so I finished my packing, and left. Hate begets hate. So ugly. So sad. But please understand: One of the only encouraging signs I've seen in America in decades is the demonstrations, white and black, against Police / SOCIETY bias against people of color. It is a horrible problem (more a SOCIETY problem, but the police are the implementers, and have the guns) and it is right and necessary that the public stands up, but I think it is way too little way too late. I can think of three people that I know or have known personally in my life that are a definite "yes." This is why there is no hope. nd. "God bless you," the mid-20's looking limo driver said in a middle-eastern accent as he turned the corner coming out of the Capitol passing in front of me. An hour or so later a cabbie, late 40ish, middle-eastern looking, slowed (you aren't supposed to slow here in the hill - security) and respectfully threw two folded up $1 bills to me. "Please, get something warm to drink." LOL. He just stopped back, 30 minutes later, "Please tell me your name again! "James McGinley," I said. "Google 'start loving," as I'd told him before. "I DID, and I didn't find you... I'll try again," he said. "YOU ARE DOING REALLY GREAT WORK. I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH," he said, looking deep into my eyes, and speaking from deep in his heart. It is an immense privilege do to what I do, to Serve my Palestinian family. I've never had a greater privilege.

He arrived at the stop, as I did, after, the materially poor-looking older woman with the rolling suitcase. When the bus arrived, not she, but he... got on first, then she. I saw that she was talking to the driver, blocking the way for me to get on. I presumed she was asking directions, was this the right bus, or something. While I stood there I thought of how rude, how thoughtless, how inconsiderate the man was who got on first rather than letting the woman, who was there before him, to get on before he. Next thing I saw was this same man's hand appear... with all the change he could find in his pocket, I am sure. He had heard what I had not... the lady was asking the driver if she could ride even though she did not have the fare. Once we were seated, to my gladness, he accepted; the $1 I put in his hand, and she the $1 I put in hers.

nd. Note to a young friend that not unlike Albert Schweitzer is devoting his young life too needy brothers and sisters in the poorest parts of Africa. He has just informed me that he has been given charge of a hospital in extremely poor, war threatened Africa, that is so needy that friends of the children had to abandon it : Because you know me, this probably won't surprise you too much. But the me that would have been horrified at a hospital with little equipment, etc., no longer feels such her. the horror in life is not dying. The horror in life is not physical suffering, so much. The horror in life is not-loving, and to not knowing loving. If the creator told me that today I had to bring a child into the world, but I could bring that child into the 2014 world or the world of 1491 America or the world of Africa before the white Europeans ever set foot there... I would refuse 2014, I would gladly accept either of the other two options..... But if I were offered the opportunity to be alive today or some prior time I could well choose today. No credit to me I am loving, and loving wants the most dire situations in which to be helpful, and that describes today pretty well. As I've said, you have one of the few enviable lives that I am aware of today, personally, or in the news. I feel the same way about my own life, enviable. There is no one on earth today with whom I would choose to trade lives for quality of life over mine.

detail. followup. On my 13 month cancer scan last week they found that a spot in my lung they have been watching for a couple of years is growing. I'm headed to the hospital for a pre-op consultation, whatever that means. Oh, lol, I did not know there was a spot on my lungs, & I did not know they were watching it. I wonder if this is payback time for the carton of cigarettes that an elementary school friend of mine and I stole from a drug store and smoked in one afternoon.

***** Central to my life experience, my professional training, my professional work, my study of activism, my practice of activism,... There is nothing more central in my life, there is nothing that I value more in my life then what Gandhi spoke of as truth force, holding on to the truth, after devoting one's life to discovering what it is, holding on to that truth no matter the personal cost. I believe that holding on to the truth, embodying it, and therefore making it present, particularly the truth of a human tragedy, is the surest way to penetrate even the strongest defenses. It is a very low probability proposition, but it is still the surest way. ***** article. Anyone who bemoans the weakening of Americans should look at the hardy homeless. It takes tremendous strength to get through a day. I’m stronger, healthier and happier than ever. There’s more respect for a homeless woman out on the streets than there is in a warehouse for Amazon workers.

* To my fellow fighters for justice and freedom for Palestine: if you have not read and mastered the following book then you are profoundly disarmed in this fight for truth and justice. Just as you know it to be historical lie of genocidal proportions that Israel is the innocent party, and Palestine the guilty party, you may not know that at least as evil a lie is the notion that Islam is a religion of hate and that Judaism is nothing of the sort. Not the Torah, but the Talmud is the determinant of religious law for the Orthodox Jews and it requires such things as allowing all non Jews to die when otherwise they could be rescued from a disaster, and to mass murder every child man and woman Gentile, none Jew, if they might possibly be antagonistic to Jews; oh, and of course, to lie flatly about any such controversial laws to all non Jews. . Did I just say that every Jew follows these Orthodox, central, hateful, ragingly discriminatory, ragingly racist teachings? I say emphatically that many Jews practice the opposite, and reject this hateful teaching. But the right-wing Israeli government, from day one, has empowered, inflamed, and dispersed widely the hateful teachings at the core of the Jewish religion. And there are many in the Israeli military that are profound believers of this fanaticism. If you know this book to be in factual error, then please let me know. Picture. When white Americans, the intellectual elite, respond with the same her, disgust, outrage, indignation... To the destruction of the social, emotional, and intellectual lives of the mass of American children of color, America will be worth saving, and capable thereof. Unlikely, but possible.
Much detail. Dialogue with a young friend regarding the violence in Ferguson Missouri vet so horrifying as, disgusts, outrages, and apalls this young friend...
* To a respected young friend who posted that no one should ever behave the way people are behaving in Ferguson Missouri I replied:
Wow. Totally, profoundly, disagree.
JFK, "Whoever would make unviolent revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable." The in-justice system in this country, that for people of color, and the not rich, has been unjust forever, and more so, every day... is an attack on democracy, the majority of Americans... and was supposed to be an alternative to violent revolution. Society, those in power, those on the sidelines, have chosen to allow this slanted system to get worse, and worse, and worse. The choose to 'hear' the poor, the people of color, less less and less. They have chosen for America to NOT BE THEIR COUNTRY. I lay the behavior at the feet of the whites, the privileged, those standing on the sidelines watching, or IGNORING, the bias, the injustice... year... after decade.... That's all I have to say.
* In reply to this my friend wrote at great length how she profoundly saw otherwise, in America, where other options, such as those that I utilize, are available.

I believe you have 0 conception, 0, of what it means to be born black in this country, what it means to be born poor in this country, what it means to be a poor, uneducated, adult in this country, and what it means to be a black person in this country. 0. You seem to have zero understanding that there are two Americas. There have been two, there are two, and there may be two forever. There is an America for the white, educated, and and to a lesser degree the white uneducated. And there is an America for the rest of us. If everyone was born in your America Lizzie, your educational system all being white, all being attractive, all being educated, all being born in a community trained to moral standards, the way that the legal system treats you, the way that the educational system treats you, the way that the police system treats you, the way that the medical system treats you , the way that bystanders would treat you ... I am NOT trying to pile on here, but there are two additional points that you're writing brings to my mind. One is your extremely correct mention of the role of the media. Among the more insightful articles on Ferguson that have caught my eye are several that have mentioned that arson, loading, vandalism, is the voice of the voiceless, it is what the voiceless the ignored, the overlooked, the unheard do. The other is your mention of such extraordinary souls as Alice Paul. Whatever horror, outrage, indignation, disgust, disdain... You feel toward the small minority of Ferguson protesters is came compared to what was felt toward, spat at, beaten into... The likes of Alice Paul in her day. One final thought, sorry, Gandhi is understood as the father of nonviolent action, and rightly so. He is almost universally misunderstood as being against violence. This is categorically incorrect. He was categorically against cowardice, against inaction in the face of injustice. For him that was the cardinal sin, cowardice, in action in the face of injustice, let alone decades and centuries of injustice such as our black brothers and sisters have received and receive hourly in this country . Unforgivable is cowardice and injustice in the view of Gandhi. . He said that he strongly preferred, and highly recommended, nonviolent action. But he demanded of people that if they did not have within them the ability to respond nonviolently, they were to respond in the only ways that they knew, and if that meant violence, then it was their duty to be violet.
