Planetsave: Apes Have A Sense Of ‘Fairness’ That Is Very Similar To Humans, Research Finds

Posted: 15 Jan 2013 10:55 PM PST
Chimpanzees apparently possess a sense of what is ‘fair’ that is extremely similar to that of humans, new research has found. Not that it is very surprising, given how extremely similar humans and other ape species are. Previously though, the ‘expert’ consensus had been that ‘fairness’ was a uniquely human trait, though like most assumed ‘human-only’ traits ‘fairness’ has now been found to be present in species other than humans.

It would very much surprise me if most of the traits assumed to be innately human and separate from other animals was the result of anything other than the cultures of modern humans.....

01.25.13 My Personal Agony of late - I'm minding the Creator's Business, not my own. LOL.

As reported here:

***** 01.24.13 D20-2 Under MASSIVE ASSAULT by my Fleshly Spirit

01.25.13 Day 20-3 In Turmoil Discerning Chemo Arrangements

I've been in pretty massive psychological distress in recent days - if not severe depression, pretty near thereto. Quite the Agony.

I'd be embarrassed, I'd feel a 'failure,' cept, I'm doing the best I know how, in the moment.  There are reasons that few, not one in a million, find, walk, or stay on the Path of Joy, Peace of Heart, Loving, Passion... that Jesus died to lead us to!  Goodness, am I being reminded of that!

I'm making progress back to that Heavenly Path:

1.  I'm devoting Hours in Prayer, Guided Meditation, to refocus from my Fleshly Spirit gone wild, to why I'm here, and why you are here - our Tortured, and soon to-be-Tortured children - the next 200 billion, that have been, Joyfully, the totality of my Spirit, but that I've unwittingly allowed to be stripped OUT of the center of my being, displaced by pitiful "personal" concerns, worries, pain, and the doings of others, even though promising!

2.   The Euphoric prospect of Pr. Obama now moving into position to directly fight for our children's future, against Ecocide by Green House Gasses, understandably was, well Euphoric, for me.  The problem with that?  NOT MY BUSINESS.  It is NOT MY BUSINESS what Pr. Obama does.  The only thing that EVER is MY business is what I ATTEMPT!  And I've been rock solid in that, until recent days.

It is not my business:

A.  What Pr. Obama does or does not do, except as that informs how I best attempt to help our 204 billion kids;

B.  Whether, where, how, when... I receive chemo, and how severely that destroys my ability to serve during the regimen, except the degree to which I personally can shape that path, which appears to be very little. NOT MY BUSINESS.  THE CREATOR'S BUSINESS.

"Full effort is full success!" Gandhi.  "We are not called to be successful.  We are called to be Faithful."  Teresa of Calcutta.  "We are not here to survive.  We are here to Serve."  Loving.  :-)  All three correct.  Maslow spoke of this in terms of "intrinsic motivation."  'Whosoever would hold onto their life shall lose it; and whosoever would Lose their life for the sake of Our Family, shall Gain their Life.'  Jesus.  In this sickest of all cultures, where Affloholism is our Religion, how hard to remember; how hard to practice; how easy to Fall....

Minding the Father's, the Creator's business is Always a Deadly mistake, regardless of how unintended, and Hell for those that live in Error (Sin, from the Greek) on this point.

I have close to 150 elements I cycle through every week, 100 or so here, like the two points in the prior paragraph, that I've learned, that tho they are almost all restatements of the same truth, any one of which overlooked, forgotten, at the wrong time, can lead to falling off the Path, out of Heaven on Earth... into the Agonies, the Hell of the Fleshly Spirit, with the possibility of never finding the way back (like I couldn't for 30 or more years!)  Argh.  "The gate is narrow, and few will enter in."  Jesus.  He wasn't kidding.

But with A and B I feel myself returning to the Kingdom.  I suspect I'll be back In, soon.  I Pray.

01.25.13 Day 20-3 In Turmoil Discerning Chemo Arrangements

From a note to a kind soul that navigates patients in the DC medical system:

"I pray you are well.

It is perfectly clear to me that with recent political developments regarding
the cause to which my life is dedicated, averting Ecocide, there
is a need for me to beat this cancer so that I can be on the field
of battle for as many years as possible.

Will you Sister, without yet taking any action on my behalf, please advise me?

*  Would it be possible, do you think, for me to re-initiate care
from Dr. M?  How would I go about that - just email her?

*  How would I re-initiate the two tests that were required - brain
scan and PET scan of my liver?

What remains unsettled for me is the "where," DC or
Philadelphia?  My #1 choice is in DC because
that is where Politically I am likely to be able to be the most help.  However,
the lodging that is necessarily required by the hospital for me is hugely problematic
(I'M NOT COMPLAINING IN ANY WAY):

A.  I can't even consider the wonderful C. House because, of
necessity, given their primary clientele, they are 100% restrictive on internet
communication and I would forgo the chemo rather than be cut off from
internet communication for 6 months.  Impossible for me.  Living Death,
literally, for me.  Quite literally I've paid most every material price a
person can pay in this society, these last dozen years, in order to fight
full time for our children, every price, EXCEPT FOR MY PRIMARY TOOL
IN THE FIGHT -  the Internet, and access thereto.

B.  Doc C has kindly told me that the Infirmary at a local Homeless Shelter would likely
be available to me, but in the absence of any detailed knowledge of that
arrangement, which is probably what I will do anyway, I imagine that
whatever possessions I had there would be subject to likely theft, which means that
I would not be able, even on days when I was healthy and mobile, to have
with me the things I need for the activist work I do; removing the primary
reason for me to be in DC!  Argh!  Plus, I'm guessing, the way most shelters
are, my hours of exit and entry would be highly restricted, further limiting my
activism on healthy days.

C.  I think that B above, the Infirmary, is how I will likely go, if Howard,
Dr. M, would take me back, but due to the major restrictions
I mention, I am unable to yet part with the idea
of staying with friends in the Philadelphia area, if the Medicare could be set up
here and treatment secured here.  This option is almost out of the question for me because
I am unwilling to be a burden to them, dear, dear folks.  But because of the
problems mentioned above, I also can't get clear in my head and heart, yet,
the best way for me to proceed.

If you can share with me any answers to the above, I'd be very grateful.

Your brother, no matter what,

***** 01.24.13 D20-2 Under MASSIVE ASSAULT by my Fleshly Spirit

I don't exaggerate.  It is quite excruciating, a level of attack by my fleshly spirit I don't recall the like of in 8-10 years.

The addict, me, raging affloholic, that has been 'clean' for a decade, strongly of my Heart, the Loving Spirit, and all of a sudden under massive temptation to relapse?  Uh, that would be me right now.

Does the addict relapse?  I won't.

Does the addict WANT to relapse?  Probably not!  Not the "REAL" person within the avatar gone wild.  I DON'T!  But the Fleshly Spirit?  Well, the story goes that it gave Jesus one Hell of a run for his money at one point!  Sure is doing the same with me right now.

My 'world,' my 'battlefield' of 10 years now is pretty well ripped away - not the need, not the impending Ecocide... and the other issues I've been dying to resolve, but the battlefield.  This is a Good thing, but my Strategic View of the world, well founded, long and arduously built, has been a Pillar of my Spiritual Life, and it is ripped away, largely, by Pr. Obama and Organizing for Action emerging as a better way to Fight.

This umpteenth Hunger Strike in an older, much more tired than ever body.  And particularly exhausted as it struggles now to metabolize calories.

The Cancer - 6 months of debilitating Chemo, to Start.  In a DC homeless shelter, where I need to be, with the concerns of security, theft, disease, lack of privacy....  The solitude.

All aspects of treatment, currently unknown - will those who were going to treat me, will they take up the task, again?  What will be the regimen?

Days now off the street, cared for by a friend(s), in an opulent, warm, comfortable, convenient... oh so seductive environment, facing imminent departure from all that....

Hopeful and fearful of our chances of Averting Ecocide now.  The prospects of an Organizing for Action Army alongside Pr. Obama is Hopeful, but Institutionalizing of anything is deeply worrysome.  At the least, it is a worrisome unknown for me, throwing me off balance, throwing me, uncharacteristically into a bystander role in recent days - by-standing, waiting, watching... death for me, for anyone.  But I will regain my balance, and return to devoting each breath to what I can do; leaving to others, what they can do; and in returning to a full, hour by hour focus on what I can do, I'll regain my source of Life, my Daily Bread, my Daily Ration of Helping Creation.

So, in recent hours my avatar, my Fleshly Spirit has pretty successfully hijacked me, sidelining my Heart, my Loving Spirit that has been firmly in charge, to my infinite Joy and Peace of Heart, for so many years now.  Oh, there have been smaller struggles for control within me throughout this last decade.  But I don't recall anything of this scale. It is The Matrix, the seductions of Empire, Satan, Evil, Death, Suffocating Selfishness, Sin - that which is attachment to anything but Creation, the Creator.  I was raised to this Living-death, more than most.  Thank God I know it now, and can see Pleasure Island for what it is Living-death; what Jesus died to Save us, Redeem us, Ransom us from.

I expect my Heart to be fully back in charge, within hours, or a few days.  And writing of it here, is part of the Healing process.  But wow, is this painful, and alarming.

Thank God I learned to meditate when I was college age; but wow, do I need to re-establish those long unused skills to break the strangle-hold this Fleshly Spirit has on me these last several days!  Just so I can meaningfully Pray again!

I expect to return full-time to DC on Monday to resume the fight there - 22/7 in front of the Canadian Embassy until the chemo begins some weeks hence; and then in front of the Embassy during the day, when chemo and my body permit, fighting online, and with cell phone as Organizing for Action begins to provide ways for us to fight for our kids future.

Day 20-1 01.23.13 Deeply Tired, Recovering, Slowly... to Fight On, including my Cancer, in DC.

From a note to our Sacred Sister Diane, she, recovering from 46 days
on her most RECENT of MANY Hunger Strikes for us:

"Yes, I'm tired too, and haven't been fighting near as long
as you.  Slept 12 hours last night, and just got up from
a 3 hour nap. I'm tired, bone tired, physically, and mentally.

The right thing to do sister, I'm convinced, is to, yes,
give the avatar the rest it needs.  Let it recover, so
we can continue the fight.

My guess is that come early to mid next week I'll be back
in front of the Embassy, 22/7, until the Chemo begins.
I've been unintentionally pretty rough on the medical
folks in DC with my start, stop, zig, zags....  But if they
resume care for me, well, I'll try to make that happen,
I've begun already, via email; and if I can find someone
to do the chemo, radiation, whatever, I'll take it on,
aggressively, not from the comfort of friends here in DC,
or the 24 hour loving care at DC Christ House, that is willing;
but from the corner 'infirmary' of a massive DC Homeless
shelter, because I think DC is where I can best serve,
back in front of the Embassy; on the phone alongside
the rest of the Organizing for Action army...;
but the chemo, sadly, will take me down to just
6-10 hours per day at the Embassy, for the 6 month
duration, or so; and I'll lose 2 days a week or so.

A Sacred Sister has asked me - "What's it like to be on extended hunger strike, spiritually?"

What's it like to be on extended hunger strike, spiritually?  I'm
Honored by your question.

What is it like to accept pregnancy a 2nd time, or a 3rd?  Well,
no, I never have, but I think there is a similarity.  It is not done
to seek the pain of birth, but is run toward for the Joy of the
possibility to create Life!  That's my guess.

Hunger Strike, as diane would do it, Chief Spence, Gandhi... is
an ultimate expression, Act of, and PARTICIPATION IN Loving -
It is an Unviolent War Shriek, out of Love - "What is at stake,
what is needed is so Sacred, I'm here to offer the
Ultimate Price I can Pay, with JOY, the Gift of my Life, so that
others, so that Creation, might have Life."  This is to participate IN the Divine
Work of Creation.  I've never thought of it quite this way, except
that you've asked me to share, but this is how it is, most all the time.

And, it is to participate, constantly, in the Ultimate Agony of what
we are doing to our most vulnerable, most Sane brothers and sisters,
and the most pure of Creation - Creation itself, the trees, animals,
fish... our Children, our GrandChildren, in FACT, the next 200
billion children.

There are times of distracting, debilitating physical weakness,
discomfort, nausea, pain, hospitalization sometimes...
but much more often, there is a freedom from the physical
distractions, demands and energies associated with maintaining
one's own physical life.  Eating, metabolizing food itself, takes
a huge amount of physical energy, and in my experience, at least, for
many weeks of the Hunger Strike, that energy is released to
use by the Spirit - resulting in hugely heightened Wisdom, Awareness,
Insight.

Now, as Gandhi was emphatic, unless a Hunger Strike is undertaken
and maintained out of Universal Love, Universal Family IT SHOULD
NOT, AND MUST NOT BE DONE!  But if it is, I suspect that what
I've experienced and outlined here, is not too dissimilar from the experience
of others, including Chief Spence.

It is for the most part, a deeply Humbling Participation in Creation,
with the Creator.  A Deep Dive into the Heart, of oneself, into
those of even a totally oblivious and near Dead Human Family.
It is Not Bliss. But it IS Divine. It is OF the Divine, and Within
the Divine, in Partnership.

And a final caution to all, especially Chief Spence - the Hunger Strike is NOT OVER when calories begin to be consumed!!! This can be the most taxing, most exhausting, most dangerous time. The digestive track has gone totally dormant, within 4 days of the Hunger Strike beginning. Restart is exhausting, and unless one very carefully consumes limited amounts of easily digested foods, at best, they will have a very unpleasant experience with their bowels, and at worst, could wind up in the hospital, or worse. Tho I've been on more 35-50 day hunger strikes than I can recall, I don't have re-entry down to a science. But knowing now what is called the BRAT diet - Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast - has been a great help to me. Please be certain that people working with Chief Spence know this.

Also, re-entry is a very challenging time as well. Hunger Strike for 20, 30, 40... days is a near-death experience, slow-motion seppuku. It is very important that people around Chief Spence try very hard to provide her many days of space, support, and protection for her work to psychologically return to the living, and to re-chart her course of service.

With the above, sister, maybe I misunderstood your question.  Please
tell me further how I can help with your question.

Loving.  Sakihiwew
