had I thought one thing four years ago everything would have been different. Had I thought where the hi leftridge of the crank arm arm was everything would have been different. Am I the only one that has made this mistake? Entirely possible.

Cycling. To dream The Impossible Dream. The Holy Grail has been achieved.

Will it be here tomorrow? Tomorrow Will Tell. And the next day.... But it was here today. The ability, as on a conventional bicycle, for James body and soul to deliver all the energy that it knew it had to give, efficiently, effectively, reliably. 3 years ago this occurred for a brief period in time in Iowa, and then was lost. But today it was back. No, really. And James thinks he understands why it was working.

The torque sensor metrics for James were throttled back 70% and now are deemed to be reliable. 326 human watts was seen today, 220 was not rare. 180-200 was regular. This is 50% beyond what was ever seen before the metrics were recalibrated when each has adjusted for the other. Point being today James was able to Output hugely more, contribute, hugely more, then before. Ever since Iowa. This is very satisfying, because it was so simple. So mentally and physically simple.

And segment after segment dozens of times within 30 seconds James was able to re implement the strategy, the technique. Never since Iowa 3 years ago.

For James does it matter in the scheme of things? No, and yes. What matters is James is trying to stir a soul here or there and occasionally this Voyage seems to create such opportunities. But cycling 4 5 6 7 hours a day, if he can repeat tomorrow what occurred today as maybe he can, the mental and emotional drain is a fraction of what it has been ever since Iowa three years ago. Cumulatively that's a lot of time energy and attention freed up.

And personally, which doesn't matter, it's been three years since James had a personal relationship like that of a conventional cyclist where he could do what he could do and not be constrained by feeling totally uncoordinated. But today that relationship returned. Tomorrow?

Cycling. If I should die before I wake don't say I didn't leave logs on how to move salt. Holy smokes.

LOL, and if everyone beside James knew how to do this talk to y'all for not telling me. LOL. They've been uploaded to the archive for

Cycling. Yes, today, cycling saw was as easy as, well, riding a bike.

From facebook: Today, moving Sol, was as easy as, well, riding a bike. And more enjoyable. And it's only taken me three years, about a thousand days of attempts, hundreds of log entries, to recreate three years ago when I happened to be participating in the one-week Ragbrai bicycle event across Iowa and the 1 week sprint of 100-mile days to get there in time. I think I can hold on to it this time. Time will tell. It was a real Joy. To increase the odds that James won't lose this again, he'll be beginning to write this up in some detail he expects, but today's video logs outline it quite well.. He's quite certain there are some pre conditions that were met only in recent days that opened up this possibility of rediscovery for him. Moving the seat so close that his knees are within a third of an inch of the crossbar, but that's fine, the key was first dropping his heels instead of pointing his feet, which in effect increases the clearance otherwise to that crossbar. Silly, but it changed the game, it opened up this rediscovery. Also within the last couple of days, deciding to provide the body the feedback loop that a conventional bicycle provides by avoiding use of the throttle rather using the cycle analyst and torque sensor on a setting of 1x, 1 watt from electrical for every one watt human and just letting that be regardless of climbing or descent so that the body would get a reliable feedback mechanism for how it's doing. Not as crucial as moving the seat forward by dropping the heels, but very helpful. And using a ratio of only one to one fixed, getting the body closer face-to-face grappling with the mass of this 600 lb machine, 750 with James, which again increases the tactile real-world feedback that the body could intuitively grapple with, and learn from, and it has. And all of this enabled by a gigantic lesson that experience taught James climbing through the Appalachians and elsewhere, James, you think that your power is in your legs, ankles, calves, feet. It feels that way. But none of it is there. It's in your torso front and back, and the first half of your thighs. That was nice to know, but without today's Discovery James didn't have a way to harness it without driving himself crazy. And today, for the first time in three years, it was as easy as, riding a bike.

Three years so close, three years so far away, but now maybe....

Cycling. A whole new benchmark. A whole new level? I think so.

The last several weeks have been 4000 calorie days, including 1500 calorie base metabolism. These are huge days. And yet today called for even more. Cloudy all day. A sense that getting over the bridge Friday instead of Saturday was a wise thing to do. This meant a 60-mile day very efficient. It was accomplished. And it seems that a whole new level of awareness occurred in terms of cycling technique, building on everything of recent weeks, constant velocity legs at the perineum. Game-changing? Probably, but we'll know more soon.
