nd. About 5:30 pm tonight, as I was working, and shivering, in front of the White House in hour 7 today... all of a sudden the officers announce that the street was 'closing,' everyone on to the far sidewalk. This is not an unusual occurrence, for any of wide variety of security reasons. This time, however, the reason became quickly obvious as the sound of angry 'demonstrators' approaching became evident. It was a 'Ferguson,' et al inspired demonstration. It was disgusting. Hate demonstrating against hate. Violence demonstrating against violence. Black trash demonstrating against white trash. It was half an hour earlier than I'd planned on leaving the park, but seeing as how it was getting dark, and I had to move already... I packed up my stuff. But before I left I screamed at the demonstrators blanket hate speech and taunting of the assembled men and women iniform, at the top of my huge voice, 'All the police are bad? ALL THE POLICE ARE BAD??? THAT'S BIGOTRY. THAT'S BIGOTRY.' I saw little else I could do so I finished my packing, and left. Hate begets hate. So ugly. So sad. But please understand: One of the only encouraging signs I've seen in America in decades is the demonstrations, white and black, against Police / SOCIETY bias against people of color. It is a horrible problem (more a SOCIETY problem, but the police are the implementers, and have the guns) and it is right and necessary that the public stands up, but I think it is way too little way too late. So I am not against the protests, per se, but this one was just an excuse to hate. Disgusting. Ugly. Bigoted. Ignorant... exactly like the white discrimination against black. Disgusting. Ugly. Bigoted. Ignorant...

***** artice. PALESTINE'S ANC/MANDELA - HAMAS/Khaled Meshaal: "We are victims of the Israeli occupation and have the legitimate right to be free of that occupation. Is it fair, or even legal, to require the victims of the crime of ethnic cleansing, displacement and the occupation itself to recognise the rights of the occupier to carry out such crimes? That is the logical result of recognition of the state of Israel; it gives legitimacy to the crimes that it has carried out ever since it was founded."

article. Dr. Gabor Mate, Canada. Infant survivor of the holocaust. “There is no understanding Gaza out of context — Hamas rockets or unjustifiable terrorist attacks on civilians — and that context is the longest ongoing ethnic cleansing operation in the recent and present centuries, the ongoing attempt to destroy Palestinian nationhood.”

SHOP NORTH FACE COMPANY!!!! : CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE. IMMENSE KINDNESS DONE ME... (details)
Traveling across town to chemo last week, walking from the homeless 'clubhouse' in Georgetown for my 2wice yearly shower and laundary toward the hospital, I took a different route, and saw a North Face store. I didn't know there were North Face stores.
Some very Kind folks, 1.5 years ago, took me to REI in Alexandria, to get some life and death essentials, including a replacement for the 8 year old, worn-out backpack that I live out of. The REI replacement was a North Face, and has been wonderful, but a tear occurred near one of the shoulder straps, and, having taught myself to sew, I'd repaired it, but it is in a difficult spot, and I've been worried, trying to nurse it, having no funds to replace it.
So, I went in the store, "Do you have a repair kit? I've sewn it, but I don't think it is going to hold much longer."
"Oh, too bad you sewed it. North Face has a lifetime guarantee. (I had zero idea. I HAD called REI and was told, not unkindly, 'well, we might be able to do something for you, if you really think that is fair, but if you've used it every day for 1.5 years...." So, I didn't pursue that.) "We have a lifetime warranty, but because you sewed it, I don't think the home office well honor it..."
"...So, we will give you a full credit for what you payed REI and let you use it in the store,' interrupted the young store manager, overhearing the conversation. I was dumbfounded. I remain dumbfounded.
This may have been a kind exception - I mean, I bought from REI - maybe he correctly guessed I was homeless, penniless, and went beyond the rules.
Do not use this story to gouge them, ok? PATRONIZE THEM!!!!

Collateral Injustice
Manning got 35 years. Those whose crimes he exposed - Bush, Cheney, Rice et al - got book deals, speaking tours, slimy freedom. The Center for Constitutional Rights on this "frontal assault on the First Amendment: "We fear for the future of our country." Here's the original Collateral Murder video as a reminder of Manning's "crime."
"It is a travesty of justice that Manning, who helped bring to light the criminality of U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, is being punished while the alleged perpetrators of the crimes he exposed are not even investigated. Every aspect of this case sets a dangerous precedent for future prosecutions of whistleblowers – and we fear for the future of our country in the wake of this case."
